According to Mayan beliefs, the journey of the sun across the sky and the darkness of night stood for the eternal journey of human consciousness and its transformations. The sun at midday was compared to the Eagle, flying high in the sky. Then it plunges below the horizon, just as we plunge into the dark where we face our spiritual challenges and are transformed. The hidden sun was said to be Jaguar, whose spotted skin symbolized the stars glittering in the night sky. Thus, it was called the "Jaguar Sun." Jaguar is the earth father. As earth father, he presides over the sacred power in the earth and the animals who live upon it. The force that lives within the mountains, which gives them their volcanic and transformative power, is the same underworld source of power and energy as the Jaguar Sun. The Mayan word for Jaguar is IX (pronounced eesh).

We are all one!

We see quite clearly that what happens to the nonhuman happens to the human.

What happens to the outer world happens to the inner world.

If the outer world is diminished in its grandeur then the emotional, imaginative, intellectual, and spiritual life of the human is diminished or extinguished.

Without the soaring birds, the great forests, the sounds and coloration of the insects, the free-flowing streams, the flowering fields, the sight of the clouds by day and the stars at night, we become impoverished in all that makes us human.

Freedom of Expression!

Why not let people differ about their answers to the great mysteries of the Universe? Let each seek one's own way to the highest, to one's own sense of supreme loyalty in life, one's ideal of life. Let each philosophy, each world-view bring forth its truth and beauty to a larger perspective, that people may grow in vision, stature and dedication.

The religions of humanity should be a unifying force, for all the great religions reveal a basic unity in ethics. Whether it be Judaism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Buddhism or Confucianism, all grow out of a sense of the sacredness of human life. This moral sensitivity to the sacredness of human personality -- the Commandments not to kill, not to hurt, not to put a stumbling block in the path of the blind, not to neglect the widow or the fatherless, not to exploit the servant or the worker -- all this can be found in the Bibles of humanity, in all the sacred books. All teach in substance: "Do unto others as you would that others should do unto you." There is, then, a basic unity among the great religions in the matter of ethics.

True, there are religious philosophies which turn people away from the world, from the here and now, concentrating life-purposes on salvation for one's self or a mystic union with some supernatural reality. But most of the great religions agree on mercy, justice, love -- here on earth. And they agree that the great task is to move people from apathy, from an acceptance of the evils in life, to face the possibilities of the world, to make life sweet for one another instead of bitter. This is the unifying ethical task of all the religions -- yes, of all the philosophies of humankind. There is no need to force our own theological points of view upon one another or to insist that the moral life grows out of final, absolute authority.

Blue Jay Way

During the healing work I had done this past Saturday there were what seemed to be many more Blue Jays around than the usual 3 or 4. They were punctuating various points of my client session work with their calls, squacks and screeches. They made sure that they would not be ignored and they haven't been. Extra bird seed is scattered and piled outside and a little research revealed the following!

*****************************************************************

Blue Jay
Proper Use of Power
If you have a Blue Jay totem, you must learn to use your personal power properly. Be careful not to become a bully. The word “jay” comes from the Latin word “Gaea” which is Mother Earth. A Blue Jay totem links you directly with the power of the Earth itself. It can link the heavens and the Earth and give you access to universal energies and power.
If Blue Jay is your totem, you may have tremendous abilities and potential, but you must learn not to be scattered and neglect to develop your abilities to their fullest. Blue Jay people can become dabblers – a little bit of knowledge about many things but master of none. Develop your gifts and you will have unlimited potential.

Western Medicine and Earthkeeper Traditions

"Curing vs. Healing "

Western Medicine seeks a "cure". Its realms of influence are the Physical and Mental Levels of existence. It treats the literal occurrence of the injury or wound. Techniques ranging from simple massage to complex surgical procedures are used to “cure” that which has manifested in this world, at this present, in this time. The benefits of these techniques are obvious. I am an air breathing, land based human being living on an amazingly wonderful planet called Earth. I need these cures and preventatives.

Psychology with all its various modes does its work on our Mental/Sub-Conscious Level. Many forms of treatments for psychological problems require that old wounds, injuries, abuses, traumas, indignations, fears, guilt’s and shames be relived in the mind, turned, tumbled, looked at and re-examined from many perspectives. These techniques can cause as much anguish as the original event. Many times the use of potentially addictive medication or other long term prescriptions are used to help patients cope with unhealed issues.

"It is in applied psychology, if anywhere, that today we should be modest and grant validity to a number of apparently contradictory opinions; for we are still far from having anything like a thorough knowledge of the human psyche, that most challenging field of scientific enquiry.
For the present we have merely more or less plausible opinions that defy reconciliation."
~ Carl Gustav Jung (July 26,1875 – June 6,1961)

There are positives to be said for analysis. Talk Therapy and the like help to discover and unlock the doors which the veil of denial has shrouded. It creates the ability to “see” for the first time the simple, unwitting patterns and rituals that have complicated our daily lives. It brings clarity and insight to the present. It offers the opportunity to make changes today that affect today.

“Earthkeeper traditions work on the Soul and Energetic Levels!”

Earthkeeper / Laika Healers believe that it is also important to discover, understand and "heal" the reason the accident, injury, disease, wound happened in the first place,
"The Source of the Original Wounding".

Earthkeeper traditions work on the Soul and Energetic Level.
Something may have affected your Luminous Energy Field, the Energetic self which surrounds all beings. There may be something slowing down the spinning of one or more of your Chakras? You may be held back by self-sorcery… your own negative talk.
Something from the recent past or a past life may have attached itself to you?
An energy within you may be keeping you from your true destiny?
Is there a Karmic Contract written which affects you and possibly those closest to you?
Is there a re-occurring "loop" in your life blocking you from success, love, intimacy, abundance, joy, happiness or from following your "Bliss"?

When working at the Energetic Level the sights, sounds and feelings of traumas, injuries, wounding, and the rest are not re-manifested. Healing can begin immediately. Bypassing the Physical and Mental Levels to work on the Soul and Energetic Level accelerates the healing process. An Earthkeeper who work on an Energetic Level can heal or correct  what would have normally taken years of Psychotherapy . An Earthkeeper of the Laika healing traditions  work directly at the source of the original wound.
